Crew Member Sol

Hi my name is Sol and I am one of the technical advisers for kids do markets. I chose this position because I could not think of anything I could make and sell, personally I am not really a maker and much prefer drawing I thought about making cards but I didn’t expect it to work so I decided to be the technical adviser since I am quite good with technology. I help to edit the videos and thanks for reading.

Market Review - Nook Market

Hey! My name is Antonia and today I am going to review my experience at the Nook Market in Montrose Bay.
Here is a status:

 Day - Saturday
Weather - Miserable, cloudy, foggy, rainy, drizzly, cold.
Venue - Montrose Bay Yacht Club
Attenders from KDM - Little Gems, Little Birds, Mum & Ant.

I thought, although the bad weather, it was really enjoyable. I really liked just sitting and talking and laughing. It was great. We had lots of customers that were really talkative and we met many awesome people.
We sold wheat grass!

The Scene
It was an epic help that we had a coffee/cafe stall next to our stall so they lent us a awning to protect us from bad weather.
I think 'The Nook Market' is a great, happy place to go to and I would most definitely recommend checking it out next time you're down there! The staff are friendly, the stalls are great and there is easy access to facilities and a nice, hot coffee!

Frankie and Rainbow

Hi I’m Skye and I am 7 turning 8 in seven days and my team mate is yummy, she is called Jane. Our stall is called ‘Frankie and Rainbow’. I like making a lot of things.

We got into Kids Do Markets because we met Ant and her Mum one day when we went to a Girl Guides Market. We thought they were really nice.

We started our own stall at Willow Court and Ant and her Mum asked us if we wanted to join Kids Do Markets. I was busking with Ant and we had a lot of fun. We sell beads, cards and we are starting our own screenprint pillows. We also sell Patchwork pillow Packs and I have just started to film ‘how to’ videos.

I really like getting ready for the next market and I like looking at all the other stalls and what other kids make. It makes me feel really nice being part of Kids Do Markets because you are being with a really nice group of people.

Look out for us at the markets.

Crew Profile - Little Birds

Hi, we are Little Birds.

Little Birds is Isaac, Toby and Poppy.

We do lots of craft at home, just for fun.

Each one of us likes doing something different so we try lots of different crafts.

So far....

Isaac likes the beach and collects driftwood. He likes whittling and wood work and combines these interests and skills to make beautiful driftwood bird trees.

Toby likes to work with paper and creates all sorts of origami decorations

Poppy likes any craft she can get to. Lately she has been making cards.

We are always busy trying to pick up new skills.

As we research we learn other things like history, science, how things work and more about the world.

There is always something special about things that are home made.

For us craft is fun and relaxing.

Craft is something that we can all do together.

It gives us all the opportunity to teach and encourage each other and also to learn new skills from each other.

It is great to make something beautiful.

Thanks Kids do markets for the opportunity to share our craft and for our brilliant friends who inspire us!

Crew Profile - Tempests Treats

Hi I am Rhiannon, I am nearly 11 years old. Tempests Treats is a cake stall where all of the treats are dairy free.

The yummiest cake in the world

I know I am only 10 but I basically own the stall and do most of the work .  I bake all the food and take it to the market to sell.  I buy the ingredients using some of the money I make from the market.

Baking treats

Making Ginger Slice

I started going to the market because I want to go and visit Sydney and I needed to save some money. So far I've saved about half of what I need.

First market - Big River Growers Market

I want to be a proper pastry chef one day.  I plan to buy a 2 storey house and live in the top half and have my own cafe in the bottom.

Crew Profile - Little Gems

Little Gems

My sister, Ruby, and I make up our little group called Little Gems. We have always liked making things and wanted to go to market with our goods. When the opportunity came to join Kids Do Markets we were very excited.

We started with tie dyed t-shirts and socks. We had been experimenting with this as one of our homeschool art projects. It was so exciting to see the outcome of our socks and t-shirts when we washed them out.

We also learnt how to present them for sale. We packaged them and made labels and priced them.

I ( charlotte) love making jewellery and mum had a large selection of glass pendants. I used diamond glaze to seal beautiful scrapbooking papers on to the glass tile. I then hung the pendant on a necklace. Mum also had lots of beads and I made some beaded necklaces too.

Ruby and I also liked to go to card making classes and made lots of cards to sell at our stall.

Ruby has been making bath salts to sell. She uses epson salts, bicarbonated soda and premium essential oils. she has made peace and calming bath salts, relaxing and healing bath salts and joy bath salts.

Ruby and I love being part of Kids Do Markets. We love learning new arts and love talking to people. Our personal development days are great fun and very informative. The markets are lots of fun and sometimes a but stressful setting up, but we are getting faster and are site is starting to look quiet beautiful. Written by Charlotte from Little Gems

Crew Profile - Ant & Mum

Hi! My name is Ant and I am 10 years old going on 11. My full name is Antonia but all my friends (and teachers) call me Ant. I have 2 little brothers, one called Vincent (he is 8) and one called Alex (He is 2). My interests are mainly focused on Minecraft, The Sims, Girl Guides and piano playing.

Some of our hand rolled, beaded necklaces and perfectly sewn headbands.
I became a part of Kids Do Markets when my Mum and I went to Home Education Christmas markets. At that time I was home schooled. From these fun activities I met Katie, Ruby and Charlotte who we now do KDM with. We started by making things like head bands, shorts, skirts and necklaces. Although they were fun to create, they

made us not much of a profit. We then decided we would keep the pants and make some singlets and combine them to make a summer set. They sold well and we had many customers buying our sets. They certainly loved our Wonder Woman set! After that stepping stone, Mum had an epiphany! Her idea was to incorporate everyone else's small businesses to create one big group. we now have Little Gems, Temptests Treats and Ant & Mum (Us). So far as our KDM we have been to 'The Nook Market', ' The Big River Farmers Market', and 'The Girl Guide Craft and Produce Market'. We have learned many tricks and tips and techniques along this journey. We are now planning on making felt foods (mainly sushi), Hair clips, and continuing on with our shorts and maybe crafting some longer pants for those stocking up on winter woollies.

Thank You for reading a little bit about Mum & Ant! We recommend keeping an eye on our blog as we will be posting some how-to videos for our craft and patterns.
We hope to see you at some of our markets and maybe even contributing on our Facebook page :)

Welcome to the OFFICIAL Kids Do Markets Blog!

Well this has been a long time coming but finally the day is here! Welcome to the Kids Do Markets blog-space :)

We are a group of quirky, keen, crafty and entrepreneurial kids and teens (with equally awesome parents) that band together and attend markets around the Hobart region of Tasmania with our stand 'Kids Do Markets'.

On our blog we intend to highlight:

All the awesome workshops we attend and host
Marketing strategies
Profiles of the families in our group
How we work
Reviews of the markets we attend
How-to's for the really cool things we make to sell
And occasionally a representative from the old-folks (AKA our devoted and loving parents) will pop on with neat little tid-bits that help our excellent group tick along nicely :D

There should be a great assortment of interesting stuff to share from all the families involved....we are a real muck in and get into it sort of bunch, and we all have such a great time together..... we are sure you will enjoy sharing our journey with us.

Charlotte and Ant......just 2 of the crew ;)
